The term chakra is a Sanskrit word that means spinning wheel. There are over 112 known chakras, but there seven main ones. They are located along the spinal column from the base of the spine to the top of the head. They each respond to a specific set of nerves and organs in the body.
The chakras are sometimes referred to as little suns or energy centers. However, they are also distributors of energy from the higher consciousness and allow it to circulate through our body.
The disk shape is similar to the sun and its power and it represents the wheel of destiny and the zodilogical signs. Each chakra also connects to and resonate with particular stones creating an amplified healing effect.
A basic knowledge of the chakras and the stones that resonate with them allow for a more peaceful harmonious life. It creates a balance in our lives and a higher sense of awareness.
As we follow and enhance our spiritual path, the chakras open which allow us more and more harmony in our life as well as divine guidance.
Chakra 1:MULADHARA Root Chakra
The Root Chakra is the seat of the physical body and is located at the base of the spine. The energy travels through your legs and grounds you to the Earth and connects the earth to your physical body. It deals primarily with survival, physical health and the material world. It is the chakra for concentration. The 1st chakra also deals with your concerns and considerations about being on earth. It vibrates the lowest as it deals with the root and connecting to the earth and it is where the Kundalini snake lies.
The color is RED (with black) and the gland it is associated is the gonads, colon and rectum. The Element of this chakra is the Earth and the sense is smell. The Stones that resonate with this chakra are hematite, jasper, jet, onyx, ruby, dark silicified wood and smoky quartz.
Chakra 2: SVADHISTHANA Sacral Chakra
The Sacral Chakra is located along the spine behind the naval region in the sacrum and pelvic hip area. It balances masculine and feminine energy as well as creativity and sexual energies. It is the second lowest energy vibration and correlates to the emotional plan of existence of human beings. It addresses physical concerns, tantric being and emotional polarities and connects to the lymphatic system. It creates a duality type energy, like opposites moving together to merge as one. It is an eternal yin yang of existence. It focuses on movement, sensation, pleasure and desire.
The color of this chakra is ORANGE (with orangered) and the element is water. Taste is the sense that resonates with this chakra. This chakra works with the sexual organs. The stones that resonate most with this chakra are carnelian, opal, sunstone, orange topaz.
Chakra 3: MANIPURA Solar Plexus Chakra
The Solar Plexus is the third Chakra and is the seat of the emotional body. It is located in the mid-spine area and solar plexus region, behind the navel. This Chakra radiates heat, power and enthusiasm. It ignites the fire within and calls you forth to harness your personal power as well as help you live of purpose. It is the chakra of will, determination and individual power. It is also the chakra of instinct and emotion. It holds the “gut” feelings.
The color is YELLOW and the Element is Fire. It resonates with the sense of sight. It resonates in the stomach, pancreas, liver and gallbladder. The stones that work with this chakra are amber, citrine, yellow flames, yellow labradorite, pyrite, and topaz.
Chakra 4: ANAHATA Heart Chakra
The Heart Chakra is the fourth chakra and it deals with unconditional love. It is located at the center of your body near your heart. It forms a bridge between your upper and lower chakras, between mind and body, your thought and experience and self. It governs matters of the heart, such as love, compassion, relationships and forgiveness. It helps with balance and healing touch. It focuses on love, human and divine, self esteem for others. It works with the heart and thymas.
It is emerald GREEN (with pink and gold) and the element is air. The sense of touch is the sense it resonates and it affects the circulatory system. The stones that resonate are aventurine, chrysprase, emerald, green flourite, jade, malachite, olivine, and green tourmaline.
Chakra 5: VISHUDDHA Throat Chakra
The Throat Chakra is located behind the Adam's apple(mid-throat region) and expresses your voice by way of body language, verbal communication and creative expression. This chakra facilitates a deep listening, and creates a vibrations of the universe. It also works with integrity, and chanting and is associated with will. The gland it is associated with is the thyroid and lungs.
The color is LIGHT BLUE and the element is sound. The sense it most resonates with is hearing. The stones that it resonates with are amazonite, aquamarine, chryscolla, blue fluorite, lapis lazuli, sapphire, and turquoise.
Chakra 6: ANJA Third Eye Chakra
The Third Eye Chakra has to do with inner or spiritual sight and vision. It relates to the conscious mind and it is associated with the pituitary gland. It is located between the eyes and is the center of illumination. It connects you to wisdom, intuition, and ESP. It impacts your dreams and intuition. It is the basis for all Clairvoyant works. It is affected by your beliefs about spirits and your feelings about the past, present and future.
The Element is Light and the color is INDIGO. The sense it most resonates with is vision. The stones that resonate with this chakra are azurite, lapis lazuli, indigo sapphire and sodalite.
Chakra 7: SAHASRARA Crown Chakra
The Crown Chakra is located at the top of the head and is represented by the lotus flower that is forever unfolding towards the divine consciousness. It connects you to the universal consciousness of all that is. You can access it by meditation. It vibrates at the highest level and when you reach this stage of consciousness, the fusion of ego and spirit is complete.
The element that resonates is thought and the color is VIOLET. It works with the pineal gland.
